Animal Services
Animal Services
Our animals are all Pet of the Week, since they are all looking to be Adopted.

The Levy County Animal Services Center is an Animal Shelter that takes in unwanted or stray pets. We are by no means a boarding facility for the general public. Animals that are housed here are pets that someone has left to roam as a stray. The policy for this facility is to hold all animals for six working days. After which time the animal may be adopted or destroyed humanely. We encourage all animal owners to identify your pets with the owners name and telephone number, rabies tag, or implanted micro chip. We use an Avid Scanner for indentifying lost pets with micro chips, so if found we can reunite pet and owner. Animal Services provides a periodic low cost Vaccination Clinic for dogs and cats. Please contact us for dates and times. We hope to start a low cost spay-neuter program in the near future.

Adopting a Friend
All Animals that are adopted or rescued from the Levy County Animal Services are required by Florida Law to be Spay/Neutered and also have a rabies vaccination. To adopt a male dog from the shelter the fee is $68.00, which covers neutering and rabies vaccination. To adopt a female dog from the shelter the fee is $83.00, which includes spaying and rabies vaccination. Adoptions can be done Monday thru Friday between 9 am & 4 pm. Due to the time factor all adoptions are done on a first come basis. There are no waiting periods if the animal is adoptable. You pay for the spay/neuter and rabies vaccination at the time of adoption and you have two weeks to have the procedure completed and paperwork returned from the vet.

All transactions such as adoption, impounding, etc. are cash payment only – no checks.

Rescue Organizations Welcomed
We welcome rescue organizations to assist us with the placement of the healthy adoptable pets.  The requirements are described in our Placement Animal Agreement, which  can be downloaded in PDF format, or call our office for a copy. Levy County Animal Services recognizes the benefit of networking with other protection agencies and individuals participating in breed-specific re-homing of companion animals. Animal Services works closely with the Humane Society of Levy County, Inc in the placement and rescue of animals at the Animal Services Shelter.
