Common code violations
  • Zoning compliance: Boats and RV's parked in front yards, commercial use of residential properties, accumulation of non-serviceable vehicles, abandoned property, and tractor/trailers parking in residential areas.
  • Building permits and inspections: Structures erected or renovated without building permits or inspections, and structures in unsafe condition.
  • Environmental: Wetlands violations, dumping or mishandling of hazardous materials, domestic waste violations, and excavation and fill operations without permits or in violation of the County Land Development Code or State rules and regulations.
  • Abandoned vehicles: Any vehicle that is inoperative or lacks a current license plate shall be considered abandoned; and no more than two such vehicles may be stored in the side or rear of the property, in compliance with the required set backs, completely obscured from view.
  • Waste materials and trash: Rubbish, trash, garbage or other waste materials must be properly disposed of and not stored on the property.
  • Construction: Permits are required for most construction.
  • Unsafe Buildings: Buildings that are abandoned, opened and accessible to children and transients must be temporarily boarded up, rehabilitated or demolished.
