Request for Public Input on the Levy County Comprehensive Vulnerability Assessment

The State of Florida has awarded Levy County a grant for $238,550 to conduct a Comprehensive Vulnerability Assessment as part of the Resilient Florida Program Planning.   The program is administered by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection to conduct a Comprehensive Vulnerability Assessment pursuant to Section 380.093, Florida Statutes.

The Comprehensive Vulnerability Assessment will address tidal, future high tide, storm, rainfall-induced and compound flooding.  Upon completion of this vulnerability assessment, the County will be better positioned to address Flooding and Seal-Level Rise.  This will form a foundation for policy development and grant funding opportunities made possible through statewide legislation passed in 2021.

Alicia Tretheway, Procurement Coordinator/ADA Coordinator for Levy County, is managing this project for the County. “Local elected officials in Levy County are committed to transforming policies and strategies into action items,” she said.  “The assessment will allow the County to make strategic decisions regarding future investments for infrastructure and flood mitigation.  The assessment will also assist the County’s planning and emergency management department in further operationalizing resiliency strategies.”
